Frequently Asked Questions

When can I speak with a Client Service Representative?

Our regular Client Service Representative phone hours are Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM. Calls are returned in the order received.

We return calls as soon as possible (usually within 24 hours). If you must leave a message, please leave a clear and detailed message with your name and phone number. Please be sure your voicemail on your phone is set up properly in case you miss our call.

What happens when the Social Security Administration approves Care 1st to manage my benefits?

Once the approval is mailed to our office, we will contact you and/or your case manager to create a monthly budget for your personal needs.

We will mail you a monthly budget for the upcoming month and a bank statement from the previous month. We will always provide professional financial services designed to ensure a stable living environment.

Once a budget is designed, what happens next?

To maintain your successful stability, we will schedule regular payments and rents to be mailed by the 3rd of each month, upon verification of your SSI/SSDI deposit into our bank account. We will estimate accordingly for all fluctuating bills (such as utilities) to be paid upon receipt of the bill to our office.

For prompt payments, you will need to have the billing address changed on ALL your bills to our address immediately. Make sure all bills remain in your name and are mailed directly to Care 1st Representative Payee Services Inc - 9660 Falls of Neuse Road, Suite 138, #273, Raleigh, NC 27615.

When possible, we also build a savings plan into your budget for future goals (Christmas, clothing, entertainment, and emergencies).

How do I get my savings?

In order to schedule an allotment for any money accumulated into savings, you must notify our office of your intent to spend.

Savings is accumulated for emergency situations. If there is a situation in which you desire to use part of your savings for a non-emergency, we must plan for this in advance, budget for it in writing, and maintain receipts of how the money is spent. Some examples of a non-emergency situation could be Christmas, birthday, electronic items, an automobile, or a trip.

Will I have my own money to spend?

Yes! We will mail you a reloadable debit card in your name for your own personal spending.

There is a $4 charge to the card each month for banking services. After verification of your benefit deposit, we will transfer your designated budget allowances to your card.
